Seven former Aston Villa players we can't believe are still playing in 2023 - Birmingham Live

Many people believe that Unai Emery’s team, who presently sits fourth in the Premier League standings, will qualify for the Champions League this year.

Under Emery’s guidance, the current Villa Park players have flourished, and the Spanish manager has done an amazing job.

One of the former Arsenal manager’s first acquisitions, Moreno, is now thriving at the team following a challenging period of injuries.

The former manager has also made some wise additions during the transfer window.

The Spanish defender has been vocal about his affection for his old team Real Betis and his wish to play there again in the future, even with his success in the Premier League.

He said to Estadio Deportivo via Sport Witness, “It cost me a lot because I love Betis, I love the fans, I love the city, and it was a very complicated decision to make, but I’m sure that we will meet again one day.”

Before transferring to Aston Villa in January 2023 for an alleged €9.7 million, Moreno played for Betis for four years.

He will be crucial to his team’s victory over their Champions League rivals this Sunday afternoon at Villa Park.

In an exciting match earlier in the season, Emery’s team defeated Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 2-1; Ollie Watkins scored the game’s winning goal in the 61st minute.
