Roadrunners take on South Florida in important Senior Night showdown | UTSA Today | UTSA | The University of Texas at San Antonio

Linebacker Trey Moore, who has 14 sacks this season, set a single-season record for UTSA. On Tuesday, he announced his transfer via Twitter.

Moore, a native of Smithson Valley, was named the American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in his redshirt sophomore campaign.

Moore stated in his announcement, “The last three years at UTSA are years I will forever cherish.” “My time spent as a member of this group and its culture has molded me into the person I am today.

I’ve now made my way inside the transfer portal. As a man of God, I think you have to rise to the occasion when it presents itself with the chance to improve yourself.

Thus, I have chosen to stake my claim and put faith in the lord

Moore, who was chosen three times as the AAC’s Defensive Player of the Week, is eighth in the country with 17.5 tackles for loss and third nationally in sacks. With 18, he last season set the UTSA single-season tackles for loss record.

Despite missing the most of two games because of an ankle ailment sustained in Week 3, he still managed to earn the most sacks in 2023.

This season, he racked up 45 tackles, 3 hurries, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

After UTSA’s game against Rice on November 11, in response to a query regarding Moore’s record-breaking season, UTSA coach Jeff Traylor hinted at the prospect of Moore transferring by highlighting the Roadrunners’ three NIL collectives.
