Steelers Send Message After Chris Mortensen’s Death The Pittsburgh Steelers join other teams in the NFL in remembering Chris Mortensen.


PITTSBURGH – The NFL world lost a legend last week with the passing of ESPN analyst Chris Mortensen, but after the news broke, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ thoughts turned to his family and loved ones.

The Steelers sent a message to X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing their condolences to Mortensen’s family.
“Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Chris Mortensen.
May he rest in peace,” they wrote.
Mortensen, 72 years old, was one of the most well-known figures in sports media when it came to the NFL and the NFL Draft.
He received the Dick McCann Award from American Pro Football Writers in 2016 and was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame later that year.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called Mortensen’s death “a sad day for everyone in the NFL.
” “I admire how hard Chris has worked to become one of the most influential and respected reporters in sports,” Goodell said in a statement.
“He earned our respect and the respect of many others not only through his tireless pursuit of news, but also through the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
“Getting to know him beyond the stories “He will be sorely missed by so many people in the league that we were fortunate to have,” he said every Sunday.
“We extend our condolences to his family, colleagues, and the many people Chris touched in his beautiful life.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2016 and stepped away from his role to focus on his health and family.
Upon his return, he immediately resumed his role as one of the greatest sports voices of all time.
