AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni had an interesting interview in which he attempted to explain Paolo Maldini’s firing as well as the ownership’s future ambitions.

Scaroni was questioned by Corriere della Sera, and, following Giorgio Furlani’s brief comments to La Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday, he has become the latest member of the administration to attempt to shed light on what the vision is.

SempreMilan relayed his comments. It began with some comments for his former colleague Maldini and an explanation of why the parties thought it necessary to separate.

“Where should I start? From the fact that all of us, and I in particular, have always had wonderful ties with Paolo Maldini, who is a gentleman, a Milanite, and has done well for Milan,” he stated.

“However, we use a unique concept for club management, at least in Italy. We work as a team. It is an organizational paradigm that our shareholder [Cardinale] values highly, as he is a sports specialist with a track record of accomplishment.

“When he offers something to us, we take it seriously because we believe it will lead to innovation. Paolo appeared to be unhappy in this organization, and when one is uncomfortable, it is best to part ways.

“I will tell you an example that concerns me. I was so dedicated to the new stadium that some people referred to me as ‘Stadioni’ rather than Scaroni. True, but I did it primarily during the Elliott years.

“When RedBird arrived, with professionals who have built stadiums all over the world, it was natural for me to join the team and relinquish my autonomous role. This is similar to what should have happened in the technical area.
