Zennia Thomas 'suspended indefinitely' from Kentucky WBB, per UK Athletics

Shortly before the Kentucky women’s basketball team’s SEC/ACC Challenge game against Boston College got underway on Thursday, Nov. 30, UK Athletics announced that sophomore forward Zennia Thomas had been suspended indefinitely from the team.

Zennia Thomas won’t be able to play in the Kentucky vs. Boston College match. The sophomore forward has been placed on extended leave due to an internal disciplinary issue, according to UK Athletics. The nature of the disciplinary issue and the duration of Thomas’s absence are unknown.

The sophomore scored a season-high 10 points against USC Upstate on November 11 and presently averages 2.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

Thomas scored just one point in 16 minutes during Kentucky’s most recent game against Cincinnati.

Along with three rebounds and a steal, the forward also had four fouls and three turnovers. Though Thomas’s suspension might cause issues for the program, reducing Kentucky’s active roster to only 10 players, the loss wouldn’t be fatal.

Amiya Jenkins, a sophomore guard for Kentucky, will also be out on Thursday due to a shoulder ailment. This season, Jenkins has started all seven of the Wildcats’ games. He averages 8.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 41.5 percent from the field per game.
