David Schwarz is finally over his SEN dismissal and returns this weekend.
The former Demon, who was deeply affected by his high-profile dismissal for many years, has spoken out about how he found his way back.
David Schwarz has explained how he managed his fury and returned to Craig Hutchison’s SEN this weekend.
Schwarz, a 173-game forward with the Demons from 1991 to 2002 who won the club’s best and fairest award in 1999, first joined SEN in 2005.

The 51-year-old and on-air partner Mark Allen were sensationally fired in 2017, with five minutes to pack and leave the office following their final show of the year, in an incident that greatly shook the former AFL star.
Schwarz and Hutchison did not talk for several years after the sacking, with the former Demon expressing his rage in 2020 and stating that the SEN head had “absolutely ruined SEN”.
But, seven years after his high-profile dismissal, Schwarz, who has previously received treatment for a gambling addiction, is returning to the fold this weekend and will join the AFL commentary team for one game per week.
“We started talking again with Hutchy about six months ago,” Schwarz stated on the Couple of Blokes podcast, according to the Herald Sun.
“However, it’s funny how the world works. And it’s amusing how we go around in circles until you start looking at yourself and working out.
“I believe that when you leave a marriage, a relationship, or a job and it does not end well, there is a lot of animosity, hatred, and hurt that comes with it.
“Since I started working at the treatment center, one of the most common topics we discuss is bitterness, jealousy, and hatred. And you just need to get rid of it. And if you don’t get rid of it, it will burn you up and eat you up, causing you to self-destruct and fail to get where you need to go.”
Schwarz admits that he spent time blaming Hutchison for his plight.
He described the ways he employed to deal with his anger and resentment.
“Confronting the circumstances,” he said. “So the reasons for my envy, hatred, and anger were that I received the arse. And when you get the arse, it hurts.
“But then around six months ago, I was doing something with some
“I thought, wait a minute, Craig Hutchison came into SEN with a purpose, and that plan was to shake things up and do things a little differently.
“That is his business model, and I was not included in those plans. Now, this isn’t because Craig Hutchison disliked me or because I wasn’t competent at what I did; rather, his strategy was different, and I wasn’t included.
“So for the previous six years, I’ve sat around thinking, ‘What a jerk he is,’ when it wasn’t personal. It has to do with his plan.
