Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has openly expressed his ambition to join a Premier League giant like Arsenal in the near future.

The Jamaican international, who has been instrumental in Aston Villa’s successful campaign this season, has set his sights on playing for one of the league’s top clubs.

Bailey, who has scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season, has been a crucial figure in Aston Villa’s resurgence under manager Unai Emery.

The club, currently sitting in fourth place in the Premier League table, is on track to secure a Champions League spot for the first time since 1982.

Speaking on the Let’s Be Honest Podcast, Bailey acknowledged his desire to move to a “big six” club despite having signed a new contract with Aston Villa just last month.

He specifically mentioned Arsenal and Chelsea as clubs he admires, stating, “You have big teams in England, they call themselves the big six.

The Arsenals and the Chelseas, for example. It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I am right now.”

Bailey emphasised the significance of his journey from Jamaica to the Premier League, highlighting the impact it could have on his home country’s footballing landscape.

He stated, “Who wouldn’t want to go to a massive team? Especially coming out of Jamaica, do you know how big that is for the country? Especially being who I am as well.”

Despite his aspirations for a move to a bigger club, Bailey remains under contract with Aston Villa until 2027.

While he acknowledges his contentment at the club, he believes he possesses the quality to play for a “massive” club, beyond Aston Villa’s current status as a seven-time league title winner.

Bailey’s comments have sparked speculation about his future, but with his contract status and importance to Aston Villa’s squad, any potential move to Arsenal may remain uncertain for the time being.
