Toronto Maple Leafs History of Black Hockey Players

It’s been a busy first season as President and GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins for Kyle Dubas.

Speaking to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, the former Toronto Maple Leafs GM spoke about various topics that include trading popular forward Jake Guentzel and balancing the fact that his team is still in the a playoff race while trying to get assets with a focus on the future.

Toward the end, Dubas briefly touched on his departure from the Maple Leafs in May.

“Unloading my personal feelings is what a lot of people want, and it may make me feel good in the short run,

but it’s not of any benefit to the Pittsburgh Penguins or the dozens of players and staff in Toronto who I want to see have success,” Dubas explained.

The Maple Leafs elected not to renew Dubas’ contract following a five-year tenure as GM. In the days leading up to the announcement,

Dubas said he was unsure if he wanted to return citing the toll the position had taken on his family.
