Juan Soto will not travel to Mexico for Diablos - Yankees - AS USA

When the Yankees’ visit to Mexico was announced, many expected the team to bring the vast majority of its stars to prepare for the start of the next Major League season,

but many of the great figures were ruled out by manager Aaron Boone ahead of the new MLB season, which begins next Thursday, March 28.

The Yankees will make their first trip to Mexico City since March 1968, during Mickey Mantle’s final season,

when they played exhibition games against the Diablos Rojos. The Mexicans won the first game, 5-3, but lost the second, 9-1.

The New York team will be without Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Gerrit Cole for the two-game Exhibition Series against Mexico’s Diablos Rojos on March 24 and 25. Judge received an MRI on his abdomen a fortnight ago, and while the exam revealed no signs of abdominal injury, he will not face the Scarlet Gang.

Judge returned for Spring Training against the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 20, but complained of gastrointestinal discomfort.

Boone prefers to play a couple more Grapefruit League games before the start of the season.
