TERRIBLE sadness has greeted the news that Tom Blanthorne, a founder member of Saints’ learning Disability Rugby League team (LDRL), has died.
Tom was a much-loved figure of the LDRL team, being a part of the original 12 players who joined the team when it was first formed back in 2018.
He played in Saints’ first-ever LDRL game against Warrington in 2018, and was an ever-present member of the side, taking part in the Foundation’s first-ever home-hosted festival last year.
Saints Community Development Foundation said: “Beloved by all those who knew him, Tom never failed to put a smile on his teammates and coaches’ faces.
“He loved putting on the ‘Red V’ and playing for the Saints on every occasion that he could, always with a smile on his face.
“Tom’s contribution to the team, his fellow players, staff, and coaches, along with our community will forever be remembered.
“Saints Community Development Foundation would like to pass on the condolences of the entire Foundation and Club to Tom’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
