After the NBA All-Star break, the Phoenix Suns signed 35-year-old veteran forward Thaddeus Young, and they anticipate having him with them on Thursday when they play the Dallas Mavericks.
The Arizona Republic had earlier in the day claimed, citing sources, that the Suns were ready to add him. The franchise made the agreement official on Tuesday.
The Suns’ president of basketball operations and general manager, James Jones, stated in a team news release that ”
Thad is a highly respected veteran player who makes us a better team in our pursuit of winning an NBA Championship.”
“Thad plays with a competitive drive and is incredibly intelligent. His defensive prowess and bulk provide our team more versatility.
This week, Young praised the Toronto Raptors on X. Before the NBA trade deadline in 2022, he was acquired by Toronto as part of a deal with the Spurs. In 103 Raptors games, he averaged five points and 3.5 rebounds.
“A huge thank you to Toronto, my family for eternity! Happy for the memories, teachings, and love “Tweeted Young.
To my younger brothers: never give up and learn how to be balanced. I’m always available to you. Always appreciative to Raptors. Thank you. “We, the North.”
The 6-8, 235-pound Young may be employed in small-ball lineups as he looks to give the Suns some frontcourt depth.
