Even though the 2024 NFL season hasn’t begun, Jerod Mayo is already facing criticism from New England Patriots supporters.
Fans are so incensed by the head coach’s recent remarks about his potential starting quarterback that they are already clamoring for Bill Belichick to return.
It’s no secret that the Patriots suffered a great deal once Tom Brady left in 2020. Mac Jones failed to live up to the expectations of the seven-time Super Bowl champion in 2021, and Bailey Zappe struggled mightily to move his offense starting in 2022.
In the 2021 draft, Jones was the first pick chosen by the Pats, while Zappe was chosen in the fourth round.
With the third overall pick in the 2024 Draft, most analysts believe that New England would take this opportunity to bring in a new signal-caller.
That was the plan, anyway, until Mayo revealed that Jacoby Brissett is competing for the starting job.
