Max Verstappen, a three-time world champion, has been dealt a blow after Red Bull’s senior technician announced his departure to join a rival team.

Stevenson has been a long-time technician for Red Bull since joining the Milton Keynes-based team in 2006, one year after its first season.
Since then, Red Bull has won six constructors’ titles and seven driver championships.
Verstappen has won three consecutive driver championships since joining the team in 2016.
Stevenson has been in the pit lane for each of Verstappen’s 56 Grand Prix wins.

Stevenson began at Red Bull as the team’s fourth mechanic before taking on the front end duty.
In 2015, he became Daniil Kvyat’s number one technician, and he continued in that role after Verstappen joined the team.
Stevenson revealed in 2020 that he had developed a close relationship with the Dutch celebrity.
‘You can understand their excitement,’ he told the official Formula One website. ‘We have fun on and off the track, but Max knows we’ll get the work done in the garage and that he can trust us.’
The technician was one of the essential people that worked on Verstappen’s car when he wrecked during the formation lap at the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Verstappen praised the technicians for’saving the day’ after finishing second place.
Stevenson was later promoted to be Red Bull’s chief mechanic.
