Astalwart VCU hoops fan favorite is returning for his final year of eligibility. Two prime transfer portal targets are taking visits to 1200 W. Broad St. And a former Ram made NBA headlines with a career night.
Though VCU’s season is over, the news only heats up this time of year in the modern college hoops landscape.
Here’s the latest Rams updates as coach Ryan Odom prepares for his second year at the helm.
VCU confirmed the news this week, first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, that Rams senior guard Zeb Jackson will return for his final year of eligibility.
Jackson, who garnered widespread affection throughout the VCU fanbase as a face of the program after staying on and accepting a prominent leadership role through last summer’s coaching change, went through Senior Day ceremonies at the Siegel Center on March 5 against Duquesne.
But Jackson, who has one year of eligibility remaining, emphasized at the end of the season that he had not made a final decision regarding his future.
In his second season at VCU after transferring from Michigan, Jackson, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound Toledo, Ohio, native, averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals while starting 35 of 36 games in which he appeared.
Jackson’s return is a major boost. The lightning-quick lefty excels in the dribble-drive game and as a lockdown perimeter defender.
