Scouts, evaluators, and fans are already thinking about the 2025 NFL Draft. After a hectic 2024 NFL Draft, in which six quarterbacks were taken in the first round, all eyes are on how next year’s class could shake out. The early thought is that Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck will be the first or second passer off the board.
Beck opted to return to Georgia for his senior season this fall despite buzz he could make his way into the first-round of this past draft.
The 6’4″, 215-pounder was magnificent in his first season, completing 72.4% of throws for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. PFF’s first 2025 big board ranked Beck as the 11th-best prospect.
Beck wasn’t alone as a Bulldogs 2025 NFL Draft favorite. Junior safety Malaki Starks quickly made waves as a freshman in 2022, leading the defense in snaps and totaling eight combined interceptions and forced incompletions. Starks is ranked 14th on the 2025 PFF big board.
The safety position rarely earns a first-round pick in the modern NFL. Teams have opted against single-high looks in favor of Vic Fangio’s Cover-2 heavy scheme. This prevents big plays and forces offenses to execute a longer drive.
Someone like Starks can buck the trend after a safety failed to be taken in the top 32 picks of the 2024 class.
