The University of Louisville is not only playing in the SEC/ACC Challenge, but the Cardinals are getting a home game.
The Cardinals, who were not invited to play in last year’s inaugural event pitting teams from the two conferences, will host Ole Miss in the KFC Yum Center on Dec. 3 as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge event. The two leagues announced the entire schedule on Wednesday.
Times and television assignments will be announced at a later date.
New Louisville coach Pat Kelsey has 13 newcomers on the roster for the Cardinals, including 12 players out of the transfer portal. Kelsey replaces Kenny Payne, who won 12 games the past two seasons combined as the U of L head coach.
The game pitting U of L and Ole Miss will be the third meeting between the two teams. The Rebels lead the series 2-1.Louisville lost 74-70 in December of 1997 and then dropped an 88-69 decision in Oxford, Miss., to the Rebele in December of 1998.
U of L’s lone win in the series came in the SEC/Big East Invitational in Cincinnati on Dec. 18, 2008. The Cardinals won 77-68.
Ole Miss has six returning players from last season and the Rebels have the No. 14 ranked transfer portal class in the country.
